Dana Statton Thompson is an Associate Professor and Research and Instruction Librarian at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky where she also serves as a liaison to the College of Business. She holds a MLIS, MA in Art History, and MFA in Studio Art from Louisiana State University and a BA in Journalism from Washington and Lee University. Her research and teaching interests focus on the intersection of visual literacy and news literacy, the integration of visual literacy instruction into higher education, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She is currently working on a book tentatively titled A Slow Approach to Teaching Visual Literacy in Higher Education for ALA Editions.
